Praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet
The five decade Marian Rosary is used for the prayer devotion of the Divine Mercy Chaplet. The National Shrine of Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, put into practice 2 (optional) opening prayers and a closing prayer to the Chaplet Devotion.
Two (Optional) Opening Prayers
1. You expired, Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls, and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world. O Fountain of Life, unfathomable Divine Mercy, envelop the whole world and empty Yourself out upon us.
2. O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!
Begin with the following prayers:
Our Father
Hail Mary
The Apostles' Creed
Prior to each decade pray the following prayer on each large bead:
Eternal Father,
I offer you the Body and Blood,
Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son,
Our Lord, Jesus Christ,
in atonement for our sins
and those of the whole world.
On each of the ten small beads, pray the following prayer:
For the sake of His sorrowful Passion,
have mercy on us and on the whole world.
Upon the completion of the 5 decades, pray the following prayer 3 times:
Holy God,
Holy Mighty One,
Holy Immortal One,
have mercy on us
and on the whole world.
(Optional) Closing Prayer
Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion - inexhaustible, look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us, that in difficult moments we might not despair nor become despondent, but with great confidence submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is Love and Mercy itself.

Not in the beauty of the color, nor of the brush, lies the greatness of this image, but in My grace. (Diary 313)
On a February evening in 1931, in Cracaw, Poland, Jesus appeared to Sister Faustian (Helen Kowalska), a young uneducated nun. His message was that of mercy for all mankind. In her diary, she wrote, "In the evening, when I was in my cell, I became aware of the Lord Jesus clothed in a white garment. One hand was raised in blessing, the other was touching the garment at the breast. From the opening of the garment at the breast there came forth two large rays, one red and the other pale. In silence I gazed intently at the Lord; my soul was overwhelmed with fear, but also with great joy. After a while Jesus said to me, 'paint an image according to the pattern you see, with the inscription: Jesus, I trust in You.'"
This was the beginning of the devotion we have come to know as Divine Mercy.
On Friday, September 13th, 1935, Our Lord revealed to Sister Faustina the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. He instructed how to recite it and referring to it, said,
"Say unceasingly this chaplet that I have taught you.
Anyone who says it will receive great Mercy at the hour of death.
Priests will recommend it to sinners as the last hope.
Even the most hardened sinner, if he recites this Chaplet even once, will receive grace from My Infinite Mercy.
I want the whole world to know My Infinite Mercy.
I want to give unimaginable graces to those who trust in My Mercy...
When they say this Chaplet in the presence of the dying, I will stand between My Father and the dying person not as the just judge but as the Merciful Savior".
“The red ray stands for the Blood which is the life of souls.” (Saint Faustina’s Diary 313)…….Symbolizing His blood we have chosen red as the color of this chaplet. Czech glass is bordered by silver toned Bali style spacers. The “Eternal Father….” beads , in a larger size, repeat the color and contour. A Divine Mercy center and vintage Czech crucifix complete this solid chaplet which measures 20 ½”.
Your Divine Mercy Chaplet will be shipped in a silk pouch and gift box with background and instructions for prayer.
